AFN Crisis: Sports Ministry Hires Two SANs For Supreme Court Appeal

The Ministry of youth and sports development is take the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, AFN led by Ibrahim Gusau to Supreme Court with two Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN to stand for the ministry, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The Ministry is heading to the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal discarded the case last week for lack of merit.
The ministry had gone to the Appeal Court seeking a reversal of the ruling by an Abuja High Court that Ibrahim Gusau remains the substantive President of the federation.
Consequently, the Ministry is headed to the Apex Court in the land for final jurisprudence on the crisis.
A source in the Ministry’s legal department disclosed that the ministry was shocked at the outcome of the Appeal and is definitely heading to the Supreme Court.
“What do you expect”? the source queried adding,
“This individual sued the Minister and the Ministry in the first instance dragging them through the courts after he shunned all panels and processes put in place to resolve the matter”
Findings also indicates that the Ministry is already in touch with two SANs who will handle the matter.
For over a year now the AFN has been embroiled in leadership crisis with Ibrahim Gusau who has been running the AFN allegedly illegally against the resolution of 9 members of the 13 board membership and the constitution of the Federation.
Nigerians are worried that the seemingly unending crisis in the athletics federation could derail Nigeria’s the chances to win medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics next year
