The minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare will Tuesday, October 12, 20202 hold a mediation meeting between the Nigeria Football Federation, and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah over the lingering crisis rocking the Anambra State Football Association elections, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
However, Bestchoicesports.com.ng gathered that the mediation is coming after the reelected chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah wrote a petition against NFF to the ministry of youth and sports
Last month, the caretaker committee chairman set up to run the affairs of the state FA by NFF resigned from his position.
The Anambra FA Election held virtually last two months was Nullified by the NFF executive committee thereby throwing the state football umpire in anarchy
Consquently, Senator Ubah wrote a petition to the ministry youth and sports development which has decided to wade into the crisis by inviting key stakeholders to an emergency meeting at the conference room of the minister’s office, inside the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja.
In a letter sent to the chairman Anambra state sports development commission and signed by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Gabriel Aduda, the ministry said it is imperative that the Anambra state football association and other parties put a hold to all activities relating to the football election in the state immediately, pending the outcome of the meeting.
The letter dated October 5, 2020, stated clearly that the proposed meeting slated for October 12, 2020, is part of an investigation into the crisis surrounding the Anambra state football association election based on a petition authored by Senator (Dr) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
It will be recalled that Senator (Dr) patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, was returned unopposed in a virtual election conducted by the Jude Anyadufu led Anambra electoral committee on August 2, this year, only for the Nigeria football federation to nullify the result of the election and subsequently set up a caretaker committee to administer football activities in the state pending when fresh elections will be held in the state FA.
