Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Vice Chairman Donates Table Tennis Boards

Vice chairman of Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Mr. Amaebi Stowe says the reason he donated the ten Europa twenty five butterfly table tennis boards to the state was to improve the game and ensure table tennis players compete in the global stage with their counterparts in the world.
Mr. Stowe who stated this during an interview with Radio Nigeria in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital, said his dream and aspiration is to promote table tennis in the state and also shift the attention away from football.
He explained that if proper attention is accorded to table tennis it would enable the state to discover promising talents that would fly the state flag globally in major events.
While calling on the state government to provide facilities for athletes in the state, he noted that with the current Director of Sports that he is optimistic that table tennis would get the needed results in national sports festival.
When asked were he want Bayelsa State table tennis to be in the next three years, he stated that the only way Bayelsa State tennis players can rise like Aruna Quadir and Olufunke Oshonaike is to invest in the game.
On his part director of sports Bayelsa State sports council Sir Braveman Wodi noted that the gesture by Amaebi Stowe has further demonstrated that there are good Bayelsans who are ready to give back to the sports sector, pointing out that Mr. Ameabi on his own has sponsored players to national event in the state.
Sir Wodi also called on well meaning Bayelsans and corporate organizations to assist the Association to improve the game of tennis in the state.
