CAF Champions League Winner To Pocket Home $2.5 Million

The winner of of the 2021 CAF Champions League will pocket home the sum of $2.5 million equivalent of NN1.25 billion while the runner up will receive $1.25, N615 million, bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Egyptian giants and nine-time winner, Al Ahly and South Africa powerhouse, Kaizer Chiefs will clash on Saturday, July 17 in the final.

Kaizer Chiefs who are playing their first ever Champions League final will battle title holders,
Al Ahly who are playing their record 14th Champions League final.

They also hold the record of most titles won (9) having been crowned champions in 1982, 1987, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2019-20.

The final will be held at Complexe Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

“Besides the CAF Champions League Trophy, the winners will get the prize money of $2.5 million while the runners up collect $1.25 million,” CAF said on its website

The Champions will have a place in the 2021 CAF Super Cup where they will face the winners of the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup. They will also represent Africa at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled in Japan next December.

CAF also approved five substitutions for each team with nine players expected to be on the bench.

If the 90 minutes of regular time end in a draw, 30 minutes of extra-time will be played. An extra substitution is allowed in extra-time.

If there is no winner after the extra-time, penalty shootout will take place to determine the winners.

The video assistant referee (VAR) system will be used in the final.
