Chelsea Legend, Didier Drogba Joins #EndsSarsNow Protest

Two-time Africa Footballer of the Year and Ivory Coast great, Didier Drogba has joined hundreds of none Nigerians in calling for an end to the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS of the Nigeria Police Unit, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Nigeria has been thrown into national protest as youths across the nation have daily taken to streets to protest and demand an end to incessant, unprovoked, brutal killing of young people of the country by the SARS

The protest started after video footage emerged of the SARS men torturing and shooting a youth to death in Ogun state as well as the death of Ifeoma Abugu in SARS’s custody in Abuja recently.

Nigerians consequently took to streets demanding an end to the dreaded SARS with the protest gaining continental and global support.

Former Chelsea striker and a great legend of the club, Didier Drogba has come out to lend his own support to the #ENDSARSNOW protest.

Drogba who played against Nigeria with Ivory Coast in several international matches and made friends with some of the Super Eagles players voiced his support in his twitter handle earlier on Wednesday morning.  

“Nigeria is one of the country(ies) I love so much because I have lots of friends there that we have played Soccer ball together so I am joining my voice with the good people of Nigeria to protest against -SARS. So I say together we will #EndSSARS #SARSMUSTENDNOW,” he twitted.

Nigerians cannot forget in a hurry how Drogba’s lone striker in the 47th minute of the 2006 semi-final match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast ensured that the Super Eagles did not reach the final of the 25th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt.

Drogba who have retired from football recently lost his bid to become the President of Ivory Coast Football Federation
