Ambassador Chris Giwa has donated the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000. 00) to sports journalists to cushion the impact of coronoavirus lockdown on the pen and paper professionals, Bestchoicesports.com.ng
The chairman of Giwa FC of Jos, Plateau State made the cash donation on a Whatsapp platform, Nigeria Sports Mouthpiece, (NSM Branded) on Tuesday.
According to Adewale Ajayi, the moderator of the platform, a breakdown of the N500, 000 largesse shows that two sports journalists, one in Abuja and another in Canada will receive N100, 000 each while the remaining N300, 000.00 would be shared among journalists in the platform.
“He sent me 500k this morning with the following instructions
“He said i should give Micheal Obasi 100k and that I should take 100k.
“I am doing this because I know he is reading and because like you all know, I like coming to equity with clean hands.
“What this means is that I have been directed to give you guys on NSM 300k to buy hand sanitizers, hand gloves and face masks to fight the coronavirus.
“I will appreciate it if we can all say thank you,” he Mr Ajayi said.
In his message of appreciation, Mr Ajayi said
“Thanks guys. The council of elders will draw up a list and we will make sure everyone here gets from this largesse. The Katsina man gave us 50k yesterday and we are still expecting good news from the chairman of Kwara united and Emma Amunike. Once we have good news for you, we will announce it on this platform.
“Right now, what we have is 350k. We are hopeful.
“There is no shame in what we are doing, there is giveaway going on everywhere. People are daily organising on how to help. This corona virus epidemic must change our perception about life, it must unite us and bring us together as one.
“Thousands are dying weekly, we that are still alive and healthy must always give thanks. We must learn to forgive and forget. We must drop the bitterness and make new friends. Anyone can die tomorrow, but we must be able to give account of our stewardship on earth when we get to heaven.
“Good evening guys, I love you all”
