Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has stated that he would not be drawn into “divide and conquer politics” going in the Nigeria Football Federation, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

West who stated this Tuesday also noted that his appointment into NFF Technical Study Group Committee will not deter him from taking the #ENDSARS Protest to the federation to fight corruption that has allegedly permeated the football house.

The former footballer now-turned-pastor added that the #ENDSARS protest by the Nigeria youths cannot be done in isolation of the NFF which he said have embezzled more money than politicians are doing in the country.  

The former Inter Milan defender who confirmed that he was contacted by the NFF President on his appointment into the committee said the time has come for the federation to be restructured.

“I am aware of the appointment but I am not going to be that kind of person they are going to push into political circle. Whatever is happening in the system of our nation must also affect our football because if the masses are coming out to say they are against the system because it has failed to provide for them, we must also carry that to the football house because for my own opinion, the money that have been syphoned in the football house is greater than the politicians’.

“The protest should not be one-sided, it should affect every sector so that our football can become what it should be. It should evolve and take all of us. It should take us because your experience cannot just be wasted in this nation. Your experience should be somewhere. If it is not in the grassroots, it should be at state level; it should be in the federal level, in the area that all your experience in Greece, Belgium and all other part of the world cannot be wasted.

“How can we be wasting that impact that you have inside of you that you can give back to the younger generation and somebody is there and because of godfatherism in politics and is killing the system and there is no support.

“I cannot be dragged into this kind of political divide and conquer. We have to make sure that we structure that house. That house needs to be structured,” he said in a chart with Brila

Bestchoicesports.com.ng Tuesday reported how the NFF had appointed the former defender along with other ex-internationals into various committees for the smooth running of football activities in the country.

the committees which were 21 in number are made up of 18 standing committees and 3 ad-hoc ones.
