Confederation of Africa Football, CAF has ordered that the Confederation Cup matches involving Nigeria’s representative, Bayelsa United and Ashanti Golden Boys of Guinea be played as a single match and not on home-and-away basis, www.bestchoicespirts.com.ng can report.
CAF gave the directive following military coup in Guinea which also led to the postponement of that country’s 2022 World Cup qualifier against Morocco.
Bayelsa United, Nigeria’s Federation Cup Champions, are due to travel to Guinea for the first leg on Sunday, 12th September but CAF has rescheduled the home-and-away matches to be played once with the fixture scheduled to hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Capital, South-South Nigeria.
In a press statement by CAF on Wednesday, it directed that all CAF Interclub Competition preliminary fixtures involving Guinea clubs will be played in a single leg at the opponent’s territory.
CAF said the decision was in accordance with Article 2.1 of the Interclub Regulations.
