Disqualification Of 10 Athletes: Sack Sunday Dare, NOC President Immediately – Gara Gombe Tells Buhari

Former Chairman of Gombe State Football Association, Alhaji Gara Gombe has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to sack the minister of youth and sports development, Mr Sunday Dare and the Nigerian Olympic Committee, NOC President Mr Habu Gummel following the disqualification of 10 Nigerian athletes from the ongoing 2020 Olympic Games in Toko, Japan, Bestchoicesport.com.ng can report.
On Wednesday, report emerged that 10 out of 23 athletes who are to represent Team Nigeria in athletic and track and field events at the Olympics were disqualified following the inability of the athetes to undergo three out-of- competition tests as stipulated by the World Athletics rule.
The disqualification has thrown the camp of Team Nigeria in disarray with many casting doubt on the ability of the athetes to win medals in the competition.
Alhaji Gombe a Former Special Adviser to Kano State governor, who drew inferences on how some staffs and officials on Nigeria Football Federation were sacked in the years past for negligence, also questioned what the sports minister, Sunday Dare and NOC President, Habu Gummel were doing for the past four years only to throw Nigeria into the international opprobrium
“Some years ago, an NFA (Nigeria Football Association – now Nigeria Football Federation, NFF) official forgot the international passports of our players in Lagos while they were on International football competition and some people loose (lost) their jobs
“Again, another official forgot the shorts of Super Eagles jersey in Otta Camp while they are to play an international game in Surulere. The Eagles were forced to cut their tracksuits and use as shorts for the game. Many people loose (lost) their jobs
“Now, a minister of sports, Sunday Dare and a president of the (Nigeria) Olympic Committee, (NOC) failed to basically and ordinarily register 10 Nigerian sports men and women and they stand disqualified.
“An event that takes place every 4 years, so what is the minister and the NOC president doing in four years, in fact, 6 years because Tokyo Olympics was postponed for two years due to Covid-19?
“What are they going to do with them than to sack them Immediately,” he stated in a WhatsApp platform.
Team Nigeria is yet to pick up appreciable performances with athetes in badminton, Rowling, Gymnastics, table tennis, etc all making early exist from the Games.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics which commenced on Friday, July 23rd will end on August 8, 2021.
Nigeria went to the Olympics with 60 contingents including athektes and officials.
