Determined to enthrone professionalism and eliminate bad eggs within its fold, the Nigeria Football Federation Referees Committee has directed 54 referees to appear before it to offer explanations regarding matches they handled in the three tiers of leagues in the country.

The 54 referees drawn from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL; the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL and the Nigeria National League, NNL are to appear before the committee on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

A release by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, Kelechi Mejuobi noted that the affected referees are to appear at the committees office in Abuja by 2pm.

A breakdown of the referees show that 28 are from the NPFL, 7 from the NWFL while 19 are from NNL.

Their invitations to appear before the committee is not unrelated with their conducts in carrying out their professional duties in the leagues concerned.
