By Amaechi Agbo
Enyimba’s quest to win the 2021 CAF Confederation Cup has ended after they were unable to overcome a 4-1 first leg deficit against Pyramids of Egypt in Aba, Abịa State, Nigeria.
The match played on Sunday saw Enyimba needing three unreplied goals to scale through to the semi-final of the continent’s second tier league.
However, Enyimba’s fate was compounded after Ibrahim Adel gave the visitors the lead in the 32nd minute.
But the People’s Elephant rallied to level scores on the 40th minute through Anayo Iwuala before half time.
The first half goals were all that could come in the cagy encounter as the Egyptians held on to win the two-leg encounter on 5-2 aggregate to progress to the semi final.
Despite crashing out of the league, Enyimba congratulated their opponents
“It’s the end of the #CAFCC for us,” Enyimba tweeted moments after the final whistle
“Congratulations to @pyramidsfc who have made it to the semis.”
Enyimba will now turn their attention to domestic league where they are on 9th position with 31 points from 18 matches though with 4 outstanding games to come.
