Chairman of Bayelsa State Scrabble Association Mr. Daniel Alabrah has commended the performance of the State female scrabbler in the ongoing Bayelsa State scrabble tournament .

Addressing the state scrabble team after week thirteen of the tournament decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa  Mr. Alabrah said the performance displayed  by the female scrabble player especially in category B has shown  what is expected by the female scrabbler in the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo state.

He noted that the performance has signified that scrabble is not only for men but women as well; calling females to see sports as an avenue to put the state name on the global map.

In the meantime, the ongoing Bayelsa State scrabble tournament continued at the weekend with scintillating performance from the players in their categories.

The third time in  a row ,Precious Igali maintained top spot in category A after finishing second behind Ben Quickpen with a cumulative point of +630 winning nine after twelve rounds, while  Quicken after two weeks of sterling display drop one place to second position with eight wins. 

However Youpele Youpele, Vincent Munanyo and Doubra Enai occupied 3rd to 5th position.

But there were changes in category B for the fist time in two retreats as Ebisco Sigah dethroned Maide Ateh after a tough battle to emerged the winner of group of the category with a total of +641, Akpos Malafakuro who finished 9th last moved eight places to second position amassing cumulative figure of +241 points.

Also Desmond August after seven out of ten round sealed the 3rd while Vera Zini, Dorcas Innocent and Abule Ateh occupied 4th to 6th place in week thirteen.

The ongoing Bayelsa State Scrabble retreat would continue this weekend at the indoor hall of the Samson Siasia Studium in Yenagoa.
