Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team the Flamingos on Wednesday failed to reach the final of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India after they lost 5-6 on penalties against Columbia

The West Africa girls were dominated by their South American counterparts technically but the game failed to produce any goal in regulation time before it went into penalty shootout.

While the Nigerians lost two of their kicks, the Columbians lost one as they reached the final after a 6-5 win.

Columbia will meet the winners between Germany and Spain.

Flamingos struggled to keep the Columbians at bare as they out-muscled them most of the time hitting the woodwork

Nigeria will play the 3rd place match with losers of Germany/Spain match.

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF President was live in the Stadium in India to cheer the girls to victory, unfortunately that was not to be.

Nigeria will hope to pick the bronze medal which would be a soothing relief for their efforts in the tournament.
