Flying Eagles Players Owed Match Bonuses
The 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON held in Egypt might have come and gone with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles winning bronze, however the players have not been paid the tournament’s qualifying match bonuses, it has been gathered.
It could be recalled that in May 2022, the team won the WAFU B U-20 tournament in Niger Republic which served as qualifiers for the competition in Egypt
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF promised to pay the players $5 000 match bonus should they qualify the team to the AFCON
This revelation comes on the heels of another promise by the NFF to pay each player another $5,000 for qualifying the country to the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
“All these have been promises, nothing has been redeemed yet,” a source informed SCORENigeria
Nigeria won bronze at the U-20 AFCON after thrashing Tunisia 4-0 in the third place match and also qualified for the FIFA World Cup in Indonesia in two months’ time.
