Heartland Crisis: Ex Players Send SOS To Imo Govt. To Save Club

The Association of Ex-Iwuanyanwu National players has beckoned on the state government to urgently look into the current happenings in the day to day running of Heartland Fc. of Owerri orchatrated by percieved hijackers before the club goes into oblivion.

The group is also calling for the sacking of those imposed handlers and managers of the club as a measure to bring the club back to its original position.

According to them whoever that is running Heartland today eighter as a board member but has failed to do the right thing should be shown the way out for the right people who knows what it takes to run a club like Heartland to come in.

At a media chat with some sports writers in Owerri, the Acting Secretary of the Association, Obinna Obiako expressed deep worries over the mishandling of the club by hyjackers, stressing that if nothing is ugently done, the club might die it’s natural death.

He regretted that Heartland club that was once the best club in Nigeria has sudenly become a laughing stock because of the wrong ways the current handlers have subjected it to.

Obiakor who equally played with then ACB Fc of Lagos observed with dismayed that the club is currently being managed and handled by people who are novest in that area.

He said that what the club has so fair demonstrated in the three matches played shows that the players are not ready and do not have the required fitness to contained with their opponent in any match, hence the reason for conceeding 8 goals in their first 3 matches.

He described it as very thankful that Heartland Fc does not have both training and camping ground anywhere in the state attributing it to the course of the embarrassment the club have gone through.

He said that the news of holding Heartland officials back in a hotel at Kastina State over non payment of bills and siezing of GM’s car at Nkwere during their training has actually made no sense of the club.

Obiakor pointed out that in the Association of Ex-players, there are good and experienced football administrators that can be consulted for the good of the club, while blaming them for their failure to consult people.

Also speaking, the legal adviser to the association, Barr.Ifeanyi Dike pointed at what he considered as part of the problem of Heartland adding that the club had been used as a political settlement where in whenever a new administration comes in the state, they would appoint their stewards to man the affairs of the club.

He made reference to Enyimba Fc, Abia Worriors, Akwa United, Rangers International among others that are consistence with their club managers, an arrangment which has help to build the clubs in the country.

He called for convocation of a world press conference on foot ball administration in the state where football administrators could ask questions that would generate answers to safe the club.

On the ban of Heartland Fc from engaging new players, the legal adviser expressed surprise over the resurfacing of the issue which according to him involved 2 domestic players.

He said that before now there was an information that the issue has been resolved when it is the problem facing the club which has necessitated in the club going to play match with 15 players.
