Heartland FC Set Up Investigative Panel on Coach Madu/Echefu Fracas
By Amaechi Agbo
The Management of Heartland Football Club of Owerri has decided to set up a panel to investigate the alleged public misconduct which culminated in an open brawl between two senior staff members of the organisation immediately after the week 17 home game last Sunday at the Okigwe Township Stadium, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
In a release signed by the media officer if the club, Henry Echefu, it notes that at a crucial meeting held in Owerri Thursday night, the club condemned what it termed, ‘a disgraceful and embarrassing behaviour’ displayed by the two senior officials and warned that disciplinary action must be taken against whoever that is found culpable for that show of shame.
Although the Management considered what happened purely as the club’s internal affair, it however believed that the issue has attracted the interest of outside professional bodies to which the affected officials belonged, hence, the decision to set up a broad-based panel drawn from different stakeholders outside of the club to ensure equity and justice.
Members of the panel are to be drawn from bodies such as the State Ministry of Sports, Imo State football Association, Sports Writers Association Imo State Chapter, ex-international groups and the supporters club among others.
The panel will have the duty to investigate and unravel both the remote and immediate causes of the quarrel including all individuals mentioned or that are taking sides in the matter and recommend punishment against the offender(s).
Best Choice Sports can report that mayhem was let loose at the camp of heartland FC of Owerri chief coach Ransome Madu, allegedly attacked and assaulted the team’s media officer, Henry Echefu, after the club’s 2-0 victory over Yobe Desert stars Sunday.
