Ibrahim Abdul Lauds Weightlifting Federation On Peaceful Representatives Election

The Chairman of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation Caretaker Committee, NWF Dr. Ibrahim Abdul has lauded the coaches, referees and athletes for their peaceful conduct during the September 19 Technical/Athletes Representatives Election in Abuja.
Speaking after the election which saw Mr Christopher Nwadeih won the Technical Officials Representative and Ms Olarinoye Adijat Adenike emerged winner of the Athletes Representatives at the NWF board, Dr Abdul thanked the chairman of the Electoral Panel, Barr. Amos Dushu and all stakholdeds who saw to the peaceful and transparent election.
Dr Abdul who said he was impressed with the conduct and outcome of the election, said the calibre of personalities that made up the elector panel ensured that it was a rancour-free event adding that at the NWF, election is never a do-or-die affair.
“I am Very impressed,” Dr Abdul answered when asked about his impression about the election.
“What we did was that we brought in people with impeccable character for the election. We brought a traditional ruler and Barr. Amos (Dushu) who is a well-known barrister and also a two-time board member of weightlifting federation. He came in as chairman of the elector panel and organised a very transparent election
I want to thank them for their peaceful disposition before, during and after the election. At Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, election is no a do-or-die affair”
He described weightlifting federation and as a family and called on the stakeholders to maintain similar disposition during the board election on Thursday next week.
“For us in weightlifting, whatever we do, our election is very peaceful. We are not violent people. We are going to have a very peaceful and transparent election on September 30.
“The voters should be law abiding and also make sure they vote for credible people who will have the interest of weightlifting sport at heart and will be willing to develop the sport and make sure we win more medals for the country in Olympics and Commonwealth Games.”
