Super Eagles striker, Onion Ighalo began his 2022/2023 Saudi Arabia League campaign on a blistering form as he scored and assisted I
in Al Hilal’s 2-0 away win on opening day.

Ighalo, Golden Boot winner last season with 24 goals, started from where he stopped last season for Al Hilal as the former Manchester United star scored in their 2-0 win over Al-Khaleej in Saudi Arabian League tie.

Al Hilal began the match impressively and waited for only three minutes before Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo gave them the lead to the delight of the away fans.

Al-Khaleej players tried all their best to restore parity almost immediately, but they were unable to get the breakthrough against Odion Ighalo and his teammates.

The Nigerian striker set up Mali international Moussa Marega for the second goal in the 25th minute.

Interestingly, Odion Ighalo would have registered his second goal before the end of the half time, but his effort was disallowed.

Last season when Al Hilal emerged the Saudi Arabian League champions, Odion Ighalo was the highest goalscorer with 24 goals.

His performances also made the NFF to invite him for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, but his club did not allow him to travel with the team.
