In Remembrance Of Late Major Adeoye, Father Of NSSF President, 49 Years After
Today, we the children of Late Major Jimoh Elisha Adeoye remember him, posthumously, for a life worthy of emulation.
Late Major Jimoh Elisha Adeoye was the father of Brigadier-General Lonsdale Oladeji Adeoye, Rtd, President, National Shooting Sports Federation, NSSF.
Our late father was a hero, patriot, an accomplished military personnel, and a father whose roles helped to build one of the most formidable families alive today, and one who gave his all in defence of a united, inseparable country called Nigeria.
Unfortunately, Late Major Jimoh Elisha Adeoye passed away through a ghastly motor accident along Zaria-Kaduna road on 21st May,1971(49 years ago).
Late Major Jimoh Elisha Adeoye lived an exemplary life, impacting lives and society, while fighting to ensure the territorial integrity of Nigeria and safety of its citizens.
Until his shocking death, he was DAQ/QMG at the Nigerian Defence Academy, a Supply and Transport Officer(ST Corp).
His onerous and committed sacrifices and service to family and national security cum development will continue to outlive generations yet to come.
Among those he left behind are his wife, Mrs. Alice Funmilayo Adeoye(who later died on 26th March, 2014) and nine children, among whom are Late Colonel Lonsdale Adebola Adeoye(son, who later died in 2001); Brigadier-General Lonsdale Oladeji Adeoye, Rtd, (Son and President, NSSF); and Late Oluwasegun Adeoye (Son, who died on 25th March, 2018).
Others are Dr. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Akinlade(Daughter, and Director, Health Services, Ministry of Defence); Mr. Oluwakayode Adeoye(Son, Country Security Manager, Catholic Relief Services, Nigeria); Barr. Mrs. Foluke Nwabuoku(Daughter, now based in Canada); Engr. Olugbenga Adeoye(Son, now based in California, USA); Mohammed Adeoye(Son, NTA); and Mrs. Ranti Iguza(Daughter, now based in the United Kingdom).
Daddy, we love you and daily reminisce all your impeccable labour and sacrifices for the family and larger society.
May your soul continue to rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord, until we all meet to part no more. Amen!
