Japan, host nation for 2020 Olympics, has promised to support Nigeria in her preparations participation at the games, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
The Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yutaka Kikuta, made the promise when he paid a visit to the Minister of youth and Sports, Sunday Dare in his office Friday.
Mr Yutaka Kikuta who was in company of other officials of the Embassy, noted that Nigeria is a global brand in Sports adding that her participation in the games will add alot to the Olympics image
The Ambassador also pledged to support Nigeria in her preparations in order to ensure that they had a fruitful outing in Tokyo next year.
The Minister of sports disclosed the visit on his Twitter handle saying “Olympics: ahead of the summer Tokyo Olympics next year, the Japanese Ambaaasor Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Yutaka Kikuta paid me a courtesy call at the Ministry today. He pledged Japanese support for Nigeria’s preparation for the Olympics”
Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report that the visit was strategic in view of the ministry’s readiness to ensure that Team Nigeria bettered her recent poor Olympic outings.
It could be recalled that Nigeria won only a bronze in Rio 2016 and that medal was won by the male football team. Unfortunately, neither the female nor the male football teams will be in Tokyo next year as they both crashed out during the qualifiers.
