He is mostly referred to as ‘weapon of mass destruction’ due to his thunderbolt shots and bull-like build up.

Omede Usman, a tireless attacker, began his active playing career with an Amateur team, Injectors FC, before proceeding to University of Ilorin, Kwara State, to further his education and would later join the University’s football team.

His performance with the Uni-Ilorin team caught the attention of then NPFL side, Kwara United FC, who recruited him into the team.

After playing a few seasons with the Ilorin-based club, the Kogi State- born left the shores of Nigeria to play for Dragon FC of Benin Republic.

Still searching for the right atmosphere to boost his football career, the huge striker trialled with Dubai Diamond FC of United Arab Emirates, in the Middle-East. Not satisfied with the environment, Omede switched allegiance to Europe, where he also trialled with former club of Riyad Mahrez, Le Havre AC of France.

He was forced back to Nigeria by a knee injury, but after getting back to his fitness, he joined Gabros International, now known as FC Ifeanyi Ubah. After spending few time with the Nnewi-based club, Omede returned to Benin Republic, but this time around with a new club, USS Krake’, where he helped them to win the Benin Premier League, also called Championnat National du Bénin, and subsequently played in the CAF Champions League.

At the end of his contract with the Beninese Club, Omede had a short stint with Nigerian Second Division side, Aklosendi International FC of Lafia before crossing over to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, signing for Club Deportivo Unidad, and still helped them win the Equatorial Guinea National League First Division which qualified them to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Omede returned to Nigeria, after refusing to renew his contract with the Malabo club, saying his target was to play in Europe.

On his return to Nigeria, Omede swiftly moved to Nasarawa United and after some trials, the thick striker was snapped up by the Nasarawa State-owned football club, where he has been performing creditably well in the team’s preseason activities, including scoring a wonder goal from 25 yards against Katsina United at the Ahlan Preseason Cup Tournament holding in Kano.

Asked by the Media Team of Nasarawa United why he chose to play for the Lafia-based club, the gentle-looking Omede who said his role models are Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba, revealed that:

“From day one, my dream was to play for Nasarawa United. I have two clubs I have always yearned to play for in Nigeria – Nasarawa United or Kano Pillars. These are big clubs and have continental pedigree”.

Omede has been receiving lots of accolades from his Nasarawa United’s team-mates and football agents alike, especially for his shots and energy, he, nevertheless, said his mission at the club is to help them win the NPFL and return them to continental football.

He added that he wants to win and emerge the highest goalscorer of the Ahlan Preseason Cup Tournament in Kano.

With the 2019/2020 Nigerian Professional Football League Season yet to kick-off, fans of Nasarawa United would be hoping that Usman Omede’s inclusion in the team would help propel it to greater heights and return the team to its glorious days.
