Nigeria’s Super Eagles were early Sunday morning humiliated by Mexico 4-0 in an embarrassing international friendly match in USA, bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Played by home based Eagles also regarded as Team B, the Super Eagles showed no sign of intent and purpose as Athletico Madrid star, Hector Herrera’s early goal on the 2nd minute of the encounter heralded what would come on cold Sunday morning back in Nigeria.

The score was increased two minutes later as Rogelio Funes scored the second goal in the 4th minute.

With the game ending 2-0 in first half, it was expected that the coach Augustine Eguaveon-led lads will have a change of strategy and muster a spirited challenge against the experienced El Tri side but the Eagles could not find their strength to fly as Hector Herrera again scored his brace in the 52nd minute to compound the three-time Africa champions’ woes.

Any efforts to fight back were dashed in the 78th minute as Don Santos scored the 4th and final goal of the encounter to ensure that the Eagles came back again, in as many friendly matches, without scoring a goal.

Recall that the team played two friendly matches in June against Cameroon where they lost the first match by odd goal and played a barren draw in the second match.

With the match done and dusted, the Mexicans will now turn attention as they head to Texas for the Gold Cup tournament.

On their part, the Super Eagles will return home on Tuesday to prepare ahead of their 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September.
