English Championship club, Middlesbrough has congratulated its Nigerian midfielder, Mikel Obi for being named among the Super Eagles’ list for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The Super Eagles captain joined the club from China in January on a six-month deal.

Mikel scored just once as the team’s aspiration for a playoff finish was not actualised.

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr Tuesday released a 25-man list for the Egypt 2019 tournament with Mikel who has not featured for the country since June 2018 World Cup match loss against Argentina a surprise inclusion.

Middlesbrough took to their twitter handle to congratulate their pay maker for his inclusion in the squad.

“Good luck to @mikel_john_obi, who has been named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the #AFCON 🇳🇬🦅 #SuperEagles #UTB,” the team twitted yesterday.
