Nigeria To Participate In Chess At 2019 All Africa Games

The minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has confirmed that Nigeria will participate in Chess at the 2019 All Africa Games in Morocco, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The minister made the confirmation during a meeting with the presidents, secretaries and technical directors of all the sports federations in the country Friday.

Dalung who thanked the stakeholders for participating in the meeting and sharing in the vision of the ministry to democratise sports in the country, called on the federations who wants their sports to be included in the 2020 National Sports Festival to submit their requests.

“Let me inform us that chess has been added to the 23 sports events Nigeria will participate in at the All Africa Games.

“The President of Nigeria Golf Federation made a plea for the inclusion of golf among the sports events to be competed for during the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival, next year. Of course we want more sports to feature in the festival but we cannot take decisions here.

“Therefore, let all federations that want to participate in the festival submit their requests for considerations and possible inclusion,” he said.

Highlights of the two-day seminar was an enlightenment course by the National Anti-Doping Committee for the Federations on Anti-Doping compliance.
