Ahead of today’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, Round of 16 clash between Nigeria and Cameroon, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has been advised to play Henry Onyekuru if needs an outright win against the indomitable Lions, Besctchoicesports.com.ng can report

A board member of the FCT Football Association, Samuel Abimbola dropped the hint in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja.

The former Flying Eagles assistant coach opined that despite Rohr’s open criticism of the Everton of England attacker, he holds the magic wade that would unlock the defence of the Cameroonians.

Coach Abimbola noted that Onyekuru has the pace, ability and creativity to unlock the Cameroonian defence and get Nigeria the desired goal for the quarter-final.

He also expressed confident in the team to deliver but warned Rohr that his “time of trial by error approach is over”

“Well I have confident that Nigeria will try her best against Cameroon but I want our boys to be very determined. One thing we need to know is that we need to be physically fit. And since we are playing against Cameroon, the rivalry has been there and it will continue. Whenever we are playing against them, they will triple their strength. They will come with that zeal and the patriotism to win. I know Nigeria players are patriotic but they need to show this more against Cameroon.

“I could say much about the Nigeria team formation but the Gernot Rohr team we have at the AFCON have not lived up to the expectations of the country. And his formation and team selection has been trial-by-error and this is very dangerous.

“If we want to beat Cameroon, we need to take the midfield away from them, we need boys that can give them no space. Tighten up the midfield and allow the free flowing three attackers to play their game. Let them play their game and that will be able to make them create and take chances when they come.

“I would love him to play Wilfred Ndidi, John Ogu and Oghenekaro Etebo in the midfield behind Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo.

“The coach has complained that Onyekuru is not proving anything yet but Onyekuru we all know moves very well with the ball and has creativity. We need such a player against a physical side like Cameroon. We need someone that can take the ball to them and commit them. We need someone too that has that exposure that will not fear the physique of the Cameroonians. Henry Onyekuru is that player that can do this,” the former Gateway United coach said.
