The head, FCT FA Women Football Development Committee, Victoria  Nlemigbo, has commended the increased number of women participation in FCT football competitions describing it as a huge step in female football development in the Federal Capital, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
Speaking with journalists at the final of the FCT Women FA Cup final over the weekend, Mrs Nlemigbo whose Unity Blessed Angels lost to Veragold Amazons in one of the semi-finals was overwhelmingly full of admiration with the increase in number of female teams that participated in the FA cup this year adding that it was a massive improvement.
“FCT has been synonymous with FCT Queens for so many years and I am delighted that we recorded four teams participation in the FA cup.It is a massive improvement and a show of stable development.”
“It is an indication of increased awareness amongst these young ladies especially in schools as grassroots football in schools is our main focus,”  she said.
Four female clubs, Unity Blessed Angels, Capital City Doves, Veragold  Amazons and Beautiful Tours Academy all had a run in the 2019 FCT Federation Cup.
On the issue of FCT, the home of Nigeria Football Federation and camps for the various national teams and premier league clubs, not having a female club in the leagues since the disbandmemt of  FCT Queens some years back, Nlemigbo said the FCT FA Women Football Development Committee is on the path to rewrite the sad reality in female football in the nation’s capital.
“We hope to write a new chapter in  female football with the help of genuine stakeholders most especially  club owners in Abuja.”
Mrs Victoria Nlemigbo is the founder and Interim president of Women Football All Stars Association of Nigeria.
