Nigeria National League, NNL newcomers, City FC of Abuja are not leaving any stone unturned in their quest to pick a promotion ticket to the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL next season from the second tier league.

The Abuja boys on Saturday thrashed visiting FWC Champions 3-0 in a local derby in the penultimate match of the season to sustain their promotional push

Played inside Area 10 pitch in Abuja with sizeable number of fans, City FC dominated the game and their dominance got deserved reward from Godwin Fredrick who scored the opener in the 25th minute

FWC Champions’ push to restore parity was made worse in the 41st minute when City winger Kenneth over run defender to send a pass to Osigwe for the second goal before the break

Osigwe continued from where he left it in the early moments of the second half in the 46th when City’s sustained pressure got the desired result and the last goal of the encounter.

The win handed the Abuja-based side a huge three points and second place with 31 points from 17 matches. They are however 2 points below Northern Conference Group A leaders, El-kanemi Warriors with with a match left to be played.

City will face Mighty Jets of Jos in the last match if the season and a win will give them greater chances of picking the sole ticket from the group provided result from other match involving El-kanemi Warriors favours them.
