Determined to enhance the fortune of Nigeria coaches in beach volleyball, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, NVF has organised a five-day training for 25 coaches in order to improve their tachnicalities in the game, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The five-day training which commenced Friday at Package B of the National Stadium,
Abuja, has all the coaches, officials, board members as well as the NVF president, Engr. Musa Nimrod in attendance.
An expert instructor from the Federation Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB, Mohammed Benhamida is already in Abuja to train the 25 Beach Volleyball coaches picked from various states across the country in the art of high level physical trainings and techniques involved in beach volleyball.
Benhamida who is also the Online Academy Director of the Confederation of Africaine de Volleyball, CAVB, hailed the quality of talents in Nigeria as well as coaches and declared that Nigeria has a bright future in the game.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the instructor said that the training is aimed at producing quality coaches that would later graduate to the high coaching level of assessors in Africa.
“This Course fits in with Confederation of Africaine de Volleyball (CAVB) strategy which is in line with our objectives. One of the pillars of our objectives is the coaching systems. So we are developing certain systems of training coaches.
“We have two levels; the national level which is the one we are doing right now here in Abuja.
“We also have the continental level which is higher than this one and we have the continuous training. We have to start with the first level which is the national level. Then after that the best coaches will be selected for the continental level while the best among them will be selected for the continuous training.
“At the continuous level we are preparing continental assessors. We believe that Africa in terms of coaching or education should be managed by its own assessors. We have 14 assessors from different countries in Africa. They will manage certain courses here in the continent” Benhamida said
On his part, the President, Nigeria Volleyball Federation Engr Musa Nimrod has hailed his Board for ensuring that the first ever high level Volleyball Coaching Course was conducted in Nigeria.
The visibly elated president acknowledged the great impact and need for the training on the Nigerian coaches who will later transfer what they have learnt to bring out the best in the players technically.
“We thank God for making it possible for us to bring this Course to Abuja. The last time Volleyball Course was held in this country was in 2002. Then it was just a refresher course not a high level course that is taking place right now in Abuja. Currently we have the Online and Physical Courses available but we chose the physical one that is more convenient for our coaches. That is why the Instructor is here in Abuja.
“In the nest four or five days the FIVB expert will be tutoring our coaches and my Board are excited about this and I believe that the successes that will follow will be great,” he said
