Victor Osimhen was once again left out in Napoli’s preseason 2-0 defeat against Spanish side, Girona.

The current Africa Footballer of the Year holder had been expected to at least be on the Napoli bench for Saturday’s friendly against Girona, but was again nowhere to be seen.

The Partenopei continued their pre-season preparations which marked Conte’s first defeat in their pfre-season programme ahead of the Coppa Italia match against Modena on Saturday.

There had been reports that Osimhen would be on the bench and maybe make his first appearance of the summer, but for the fourth game in a row, he was not even in the squad.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has stated that he doesn’t want Oshimen is keen on bringing Romelu Lukaku as his central forward. Earlier, a loan proposal to Chelsea  with Lukaku’s swap was turned down b Osimhen’s agent.

The Nigeria international has been training regularly, so it is not an injury issue, as Napoli know they cannot buy any more players until he has been sold.

Arsenal were reported to be making a new offer with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea also interested in a potential swoop for the former Capocannoniere.
