Sports Journalists in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT have charged the Super Eagles to go all out and conquer the continent yet again in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON championship which starts on Sunday in Cameroon

This is as the sports writers pledged to give the team all necessary support needed for them to win a record 4th AFCON diadem.

The chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT chapter, Bunmi Haruna made the charges in a goodwill message to the Super Eagles at a send forth ceremony organized by the federal government for the team at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Tuesday

Mr Haruna, who is also a CAF license B football coach, urged the coach Augustine Eguavoen-led team to go and make Nigerians proud in Cameroon.

“The Nigeria media is solidly behind you, we believe you have what it takes to make Nigerians proud,” Mr Haruna said.

He however noted that in discharging their responsibilities, the sports media will crticise the them where necessary to ensure that they delivered.

“We will criticize you when needed, but it will be positively to ensure you deliver on the mandate given to you by President Buhari.

“Go out there and make us proud, Nigerians never forget those who make them happy, they will surely reward you even to generations to come.”

He also commended the minister of youth and sports chief Sunday Dare for organizing the first Eagles AFCON sent forth ceremony in over 30 years.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were also congratulated on the ground that out of the the final Super Eagles 28-man squad are 17 players that graduated from the Nigeria youth teams.

The Super Eagles last won the Africa Cup in 2013 in South Africa.
The Super Eagles are in group D of the AFCON alongside Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

The team will fly out of Abuja by 8pm today to Garoua, venue of their Group D matches.
