As reaction and confusion continues to trail the Club Owners Association of Nigeria, COAN Sunday voting to end the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League season, the minister of youth and sports, and the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF have said they consulting relevant stakeholders in the football family to determine the best option on recommencement of football activities in the country and conclusion of the league, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports.  

Sports Minister, Sunday Dare stated on Monday that after a video conference and said that a final decision will be reached in the interest of all stakeholders, football development and health safety

“This afternoon (Monday), the Ministry of Youth and Sports held a virtual meeting with the leadership of the NFF over the NPFL 2019/2020 season and other pertinent matters. A final decision will be reached shortly in the interest of all stakeholders, football development and health and safety,” the minister tweeted.

On their part, the NFF said wide consultation is ongoing on the format and pattern of foreclosing the 2019/2020 football season in the country adding that Point Per Game system will be deployed to determine the Nigeria CFA flagbearers

The Nigeria Football Federation has declared that wide consultation is still ongoing as to the format and pattern of foreclosing the 2019/2020 Football Season, including that of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.

Reacting to widespread reports that a vast majority of club owners in the Nigeria Professional Football League had voted to end the season and therefore, the Points Per Game (PPG) principle would be adopted to determine Nigeria’s flagbearers in next year’s continental club competitions, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said that everyone should wait until after the ongoing consultations.
