Three-time Africa Champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria will face European power house, Portugal in a friendly match

The date for the proposed friendly encounter has not been confirmed though as the Nigeria Football Federation NFF is relying on Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro to set up a friendly game with Portugal after holding preliminary talks with the Portuguese FA

The former Euro Champions has Nigeria on the list of potential teams to play as part of their 2022 FIFA World Cup preparatory match

The match is critical to the Ronaldo-captained Portugal as they prepare for their group match against West Africa nation, Ghana.

Unnamed NFF official was quoted to have disclosed that talks have been held and it was mentioned to Peseiro upon his appointment and he is well tuned with the idea. It’s now left for both parties to accelerate talks and set up possible meetings.

Super Eagles are in need of friendly matches during the September FIFA windows following the postponement of their matchdays 3 and 4 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to Match 2023.
