The head coach of FRSC Football Club, Akinade Onigbinde, says his team will fight to the last to secure a ticket to play in the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Abuja-based side have qualified for the Super Eight playoffs of the 2018/2019 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Success later in the year at the playoffs can then lead to their being promoted to the NPFL.
Onigbinde told NAN in Abuja on Friday that his team have had a good performance in their NNL campaign and it was a remarkable success to qualify for the Super Eight.
“Now our target is to feature in the 2019/2020 NPFL. We played eight matches in all, winning six and losing two for 18 points to finish first in Group A3.
“My players gave the others a good fight during their games, with much dedication to their matches in this year’s competition. Now that we will play in the Super Eight, our target is to book a ticket to next season’s premier league,’’ he said.
The coach said his team had been training daily to prepare ahead of the competition.
“Even though the date has not been fixed for the playoffs, but we don’t want to be caught unaware. We are working hard so as to win all our games during the Super Eight.’’
He said the club’s management was ready to support the team with everything which would make the players and officials deliver to expectations.
“The club management will give the players all the necessary support, both materially, morally, physically and especially in terms of finance,’’ Onigbinde said.
FRSC overcame the challenge of Real Stars FC of Kaduna, Rarara of Katsina, Green Berets (Nigerian Army FC) and Bimo FC of Keffi to win their group.
FRSC FC will now face at the playoffs the likes of NAF FC from Group A1 who finished with 15 points and Jigawa Golden Stars who led A2 with 12 points.
The other playoffs’ qualifiers include Shooting Stars FC who led B1 with 17 points, Akwa Starlets who led B2 with 24 points and Adamawa United from A4 with 18 points.
The rest are Dynamite Force FC from B3 with 13 points and Warri FC from B4 with 14 points.
