Super Eagles vice captain, William Troost-Ekong has joined Italian Serie A side Salernitana on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.

Ekong joined The Garnet from English Championship side, Watford where he spent three seasons.

Watford confirmed Ekong’s departure on Tuesday while wishing him “all the best”

“William Troost-Ekong has joined Serie A side Salernitana for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, on a loan deal with an option to purchase

“All the best, William!” Watford said.

The Nigerian international penned an emotional farewell message to Watford FC fans earlier on Monday

Ekong spent 3 seasons with Watford

Ekong who has two and half years left on his contract was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham on Saturday in the EFL league.

Salernitana are currently 16 on the Serie A table with 6 points above the drop zone.
