The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF is yet to hold any meeting with Super Falcons Coach, Randy Waldrum on the extension of his contractual agreement with the team which elapses on October 30, 2023, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Former BBC reporter, Osasu Obayiuwana disclosed on Thursday that the federation has not held talks with Mr Waldrum on his contract renewal

“Here is the latest on the NFF and Coach Waldrum, regarding his future with the Super Falcons. Since his last game at the FIFAWWC in Australia against England, the federation is yet to have any meeting with Waldrum, to agree a new contract.

“And his current deal ends on October 30th – which is in four days time,” he said.

He revealed that Mr Waldrum is going through personal challenging period which the NFF is aware of.

He noted that despite making his intention known to NFF through a letter to the effect that he would be available in the Super Falcons first leg Olympic qualification against Ethiopia in Adiss Ababa, but not in the return leg in Abuja, NFF, who delayed for almost two weeks before trying him, asked him not to bother coming for any of the matches.

“Waldrum is going through some very challenging personal problems, the details of which, out of respect for his privacy, I will not fully disclose.

“In the light of these problems, Waldrum told the federation, in a letter that he wrote to them, that he could only manage the first game against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa but would not be available for the return leg in Nigeria, as he had to be back in the U.S., to attend to an emergency.

“He was told by the NFF, after waiting 11 days for a reply, that if he could not handle both games, he shouldn’t bother coming at all. In the next four days, Waldrum will have no further ties to Nigeria.

“That is the position, despite the NFF saying that they want him to stay on,” Osasu concluded.

Recall that on September 12, 2023, the NFF in a press statement said it has mandated its technical committee to initiate talks with the American.

“We have given the Technical Committee the go-ahead to hold talks with Randy Waldrum as we consider an extension of his current contract with the NFF. They have to do this quickly as the team has a Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match next week.

“The man has done well by leading the team to an impressive outing at the FIFA World Cup,” NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau said.

Waldrum signed a two-year contract with Africa’s darling women’s team in 2021, during which he led them to qualify for the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Down Under.

The Super Falcons played 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in Adiss Ababa on Wednesday with the former champions coming from behind to pick a point from the game.

Nigeria who played the match without a substantive head coach, will host the return leg in Abuja on Tuesday next week.
