Unity Engineers FC Of Abuja Emerge Champions Of 2021 NSE Football Tournament

Unity Engineers Football Club of Abuja on Monday emerged champions of the 2021 Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE Football championship and pocked N500, 000 cash reward.
The Abuja based Engineers defeated their Harmony Engineers FC from Ilorin, Kwara State 2-0 to emerge winners.
Unity Engineers scored two first half goals to take home the coveted trophy and N500, 000 prize money for their victory
On their part, the Ilorin Engineers won N300, 000 prize money as runner-up.
Apapa Branch from Lagos won the bronze medal and were rewarded with N200, 000 prize money.
By their victory, the Unity Engineers FC have won the competition a record four times.
Speaking on the essence of the competition which started in May this year through zonal preliminaries, the President, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr. Babagana Mohammed, FNSE, said the purpose of the competition was to encourage members to engage in sporting activities, promote national unity and cohesion among members and to also create awareness on the activities of the NSE.
He noted that the competition from day one was a success declaring that there was “no winner, no loser”
“The competition was a success and the essence was to bring the Engineers together as a family. To play and exercise themselves. It also serves as a means of relaxation after days of hard works.”
“The key factor there is unity. To bring everybody together and let’s unite. After hard work, you need to come together, forget all the difference and unite.
“We achieved our objective because in the final, there was no loser and no winner,” he said.
The 2012 NSE Football Championship final was played at the Goal Project, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Monday, December 6yh, 2021.
The Nigerian Society of Engineers, founded on 16 February 1958, is the umbrella organisation for the Engineering Profession in Nigeria.
The Society looks after the professional needs of members through well structured programmes and regular interactions among the different cadre of membership, enhancing high professional standard and ethical practices.
