World Cup Fallout: Sports Ministry Queries NFF On Eagles Failure, Summons Emergency Meeting

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development have asked the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to explain the circumstances leading to the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng
It was gathered that the ministry angered by the performance of the team, have also directed the federation to appear for an emergency meeting on Monday.
Sources within the echelon of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disclosed that federation have received a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to provide an explanation for the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Super Eagles were bundled out of the race to the 2022 football fiesta on the away goal’s rule to neighbours Ghana on Tuesday last week. The team formerly led by ex international, Augustine Eguavoen drew blank in Kumasi.
Both teams played a 1-1 draw in the return leg in Abuja on Tuesday which handed the Black Stars their 4th World Cup ticket on away goal’s rule
The development led to the disengagement of the entire technical bench of the team by the NFF but the ministry is not satisfied with the decision so far.
In a letter addressed to the football house, the ministry also invited the NFF for an emergency meeting on Monday.
Football pundits have canvassed for the resignation of the Amaju Pinnick -led board of NFF following the poor showing if the team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in February where the team was bundled out in the Round of 16 by Tunisia.
There are indications that the Presidency are interested in the recent situation with the Nigeria Football and could be present at the meeting.
