Brazilian winger Bernard opened the scoring for the hosts in the 17th minute from a tight angle after he was set up by Theo Walcott, before Sigurdsson, who was an 87th-minute substitute for Iwobi, scored the winner in the 90th minute.

Iwobi, 23, has made seven league appearances for the Toffees and scored once.

Everton has now moved to 13th position on the English Premier League table with ten points from nine matches.
