Former Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr has claimed that the team has not made any improvement since he left them.

Rohr was sacked in December 2021 by the Nigeria Football Federation ahead if the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.

Despite the Super Eagles reaching the final of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast but lost to the host nation, the German believes that such great should not be regarded as an improvement since there was no significant changes in the players with a more conservative playing style adopted by the then coach, Jose Pesiero

Rohr noted the NFF believed that sacking him would lead to a better performance by the Super Eagles. However, that improvement has yet to materialize.

“After my departure, there hasn’t been any improvement in the performance of the Super Eagles,.

“They have not shown the progress they anticipated following my departure.

“The team still relies heavily on the players I coached and a playing style that was not the most effective during the AFCON,” Rohr stated.

Super Eagles will face his current team, Benin national football team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on 10th June, a week after South Africa..
