8th Edition Of Secondary Schools Proprietor’s Cup Holds In September

The eighth edition of the prestigious Private Secondary Schools Proprietor’s Cup will commence on Monday, September 11, 2021, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

Organisers of the annual tournament told our correspondent that the competition which is organised to provide interface among private schools and football academies across the country, will witness much improvement.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Bestchoicesports.com.ng, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO; Atico Global Concepts, organisers of the competition, Prince Adewale Atiba said modalities are in process to ensure that the tournament which have produced talented players is held as scheduled.

He noted that the Proprietor’s Cup is similar to the National Principal’s Cup which is meant for public schools adding that the essence is to promote football at the grassroots and provide suitable platforms for the talents discovered to be nurtured.

“The Proprietor’s Cup which is in its 8th edition will hold in September. Monday 11th, to be exact,” he said.

“We organised Proprietor Cup, they (federal government) organise Principals Cup for the public schools but we organise Proprietors Cup for private schools.

“We use it to stand as the Principals Cup for public school, while Proprietors Cup is solely for private schools.

“This year will be 8th edition and it is coming up by September. It is organised by Atico Global Concepts,” he added.

Prince Atiba further explained that the best player in each edition of the tournament is given automatic scholarship to join Atico Football Academy in Lagos or Ibadan.

“The best player from the tournament will receive scholarship to Atico Football Academy. The last edition of the tournament in Ibadan had over 250 players in attendance. We picked them from different schools,” he concluded.

Former Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju was the special guest of honour for the tournament held at Ibadan Grammar School, in Oyo State, last year.
