Kenyans Win 1st Edition Of ECOWAS-Abuja International Half-Marathon

Two Kenyans John Muiruri and Cheptoeck Careen Saturday emerged winners of the maiden edition of the ECOWAS-Abuja International Marathon, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
John Muiruri wearing tag 255 won the male category while his compatriot, Cheptoeck Careen won the female category.
John Muiruri won the male category with a time of 1:04.79secs to beat Ethiopian Mawcha Adane Nega who ended second with 1:04.06.94secs.

On her part, Cheptoeck Careen won the female category with a time return of 1:14.32.4secs to beat two Nigerian Runners Debora Pam with tag 226 who finished second on 1:17.15.86secs and Olude Fadekemi with tag 290 who finished 3rd with a return time of 1:19.11.23
The three best winners were rewarded with a cash prize of $10, 000, $5, 000 and $4, 000 respectively in each categories.

The other winners in the male category include Gideon Goyet, Danjuma Jang, Stephen Joshua, Cephas Williams, Auta Jigark, Tokbe Christopher Danjuma Jang all Nigerians occupied the first tenth positions
The female category first ten winners include Lenesa Daba of Ethiopia; while the 5th to 10th winners are Nigerians which include; Nanlop Danladi, Rotkang James, Blessing Shannon, Christiana Peter, Hudung Gyang and Nancy Matthew
Ezikel Elisha of Nigeria won the para –marathon
the 21km race was tookoff from ECOWAS Secretariat at Asokoro through Maitama to Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, Nigeria.
