The chairman, Nigeria Football Federation Technical and Development Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ has come out to explain why he did not vote for Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala as Africa Women’s Footballer of the Year, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Reacting to a report on Wednesday which claimed that no Nigeria football federation representatives at the CAF 2019 Awards voted for Oshoala to win the prestigious honour, https://bestchoicesports.com.ng/africa-taekwondo-champion-nwosu-optimistic-of-olympic-qualification/, Alhaji Ahmed (fondly called Fresh) in a release via his media aid debunk the report and claimed that he did not vote during the voting process because CAF did not send him the voting link to cast his vote.

Mr Fresh said that CAF didn’t include his name on the list of qualified voters, hence his inability to vote even though he is a member of  Technical and development committee CAF.

The release reads:

The untrue story circulated by Sportsvillage, where the media outfit, ignorantly accused Chairman Nigeria Football Federation Technical And Development   Committee, Comrade Ahmed Yusuf (Fresh)of being unpatriotic as he did not vote reigning Africa women’s player of the year, Asisat Oshoala.

As the SA media to Mr Fresh, it’s important the general public know the true nature of what transpired, leading to the voting process by CAF.

December 1st, 2019, I got a call from the communication Department of NFF, regarding the deadline of voting process by CAF.

 Interestingly, it was the day voting will close, which was Dec 1st 2019.  I was told to remind Mr Fresh if he’s gotten CAF’s email for voting exercising.

I contacted him, and we waited for CAF’s Correspondence to vote, via His email but  we waited for the message from CAF regarding that till 12 midnight of same day.

Obviously, CAF didn’t include his name(s) on the list of qualified Voters.

10 days later, he got the usual mail from CAF as the Technical and development committee members of CAF, met to look at 2019 events, Chronologically and even chart  road maps for its activities in 2020.

Mr Fresh, used the opportunity to enquire as to why CAF, did not mail him regarding the voting process. He was told, CAF did not capture his name.

I will like to say this, Mr Fresh, has been a Patriotic citizen of Nigeria. His love for Nigerian footballers, who were nominated by CAF remain Unalloyed.

He’s altruistic, and he can never sabotage Nigeria football federation, and its components for any reason.

Let’s always try and verify story before dishing out punishment or blames to those involved. We won’t punish innocent people unintelligently. More so, there won’t be rooms for cacophony amongst sports and football stakeholders but environment of harmony shall be created intellectually.

Fresh congratulates Super-star, super Falcons player, Asisat Oshoala for making Nigeria proud.
