Heartland Ambush Warriors In Oriental Derby In NPFL Matchday 14 Clash
The now Abia state was created out of old Imo state in the year 1991 but today at the Okigwe township stadium the young and elder brother will be at War as the both teams will clash in an ‘Oriental derby’ in one of MD 14 fixture of the current season.
The Umuahia Warlords who are yet to record a win in the new year haven lost away to Kwara United and a disappointing draw at home aganist Kano Pillars at the midweek will seek to bounce back to winning ways against the ‘Naze Millionaires today at the Okigwe township stadium.
The Naze millionaires were piped away from home on MD 13 away to Warri wolves but showed character and guts prior to the game on MD 12 aganist Enugu Rangers at home.
The Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side came from behind to beat the ‘Flying antelopes’ and will sort to keep their good home record this year intact as they host their Oriental neighbours today.
The Umuahia Warlords who are arguably ‘King of Oriental Derby’ will file out today in high spirit with the view to stretch their dominance over their Oriental neighbours in the team first derby game of the season.
Coach Fidelis Ikechukwu will look forward to swing the pendulum to his favour regardless off the bookers odd which favours the Umuahia Warlords following their track records aganist the Naze millionaires.
Coach Emmanuel Deutsch stormed the ancient city of Okigwe with most of the players that were fielded against Kano Pillars with slight changes as Ozor Chinedu, Anthony Okemmiri, goalkeeper Nwakanma Edwin and Promise Jame made the travelling team replacing Goalkeeper Tambe Charles, Philip Auta and Emeka Isaac respectively.
The ‘Working One’ Fidelis Ilechukwu was unavailable for pre match interview as all effort by Abia Warriors Media to get across to him proved abortive.
The epic oriental Derby is slated to kick off by 4pm at the Okigwe township stadium. The derby will witness open gate to ensure the fans troop in their numbers to cheer their various teams.
