As the intrigues surrounding Gernot Rohr’s contract extension with Super Eagles lingers, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has been advised to replace him with indeginous coaches, Bestchoicesports.com.ng
The National Association of Nigeria Footballers, NANF, called on the federation to do away with the German coach and instead employ indeginous coaches who the association believes are better than the German.
NANF in a statement signed by its president, Harrison Jalla Wednesday reiterates again that the NFF cannot continue to fritter tax payers money on a “timid, colourless and reclusive coach like Gernot Rohr.”
It names former Suoer Eagles players, Samson Siasia, Salisu Yusuf, Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi and Austin Eguavoen as having the requisite knowledge to move the team from mediocre to a power house it used to be known for.
“Our new generation coaches like Samson Siasia, Salisu Yusuf, Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi and Austin Eguavoen are all better than coach Gernot Rohr.
“Coach Gernot Rohr does not have the presence of coach Samson Siasia, the clout of Daniel Amokachi or the Ruggedness of Emmanuel Amuneke. These are Nigerian Coaches who, as professional footballers, played at the highest level with some of the best clubs in the world before venturing into coaching.
“What is wrong in offering these coaches a platform to give back to a country they meritoriously served in their active years? Those making these awkward decisions for the NFF Amaju Pinnick and Shehu Dikko what value have they added to Nigeria Football?
“Shehu Dikko other than using his company Mediterranean Sports as a proxy to fleece the NPFL sponsorship funds has remained a leech on Nigeria Football.
“Amaju Pinnick’s qualification was that he has a brother in-law who was a serving governor so it was easy to buy all the votes and thereafter open the floodgate for alleged looting of our football treasury.
“What is wrong to make Kanu Nwankwo or Austin Okocha chairman of the NPFL? These are patriotic Nigerians who never attained their national and global status and not through the back door or because they are in-laws to serving governors but through dint of hard work they achieve fame and modest financial independence.
“We cannot have these legion of Ex-Internationals as repositories of football knowledge and our football continues to go down the Abyss because a certain gangsters are holding our football hostage.
“The NANF reiterates that the NFF Put a consortium of our new generation coaches together to manage the Super Eagles or hire an A-list coach.
