The ministry of youth and sports development has launched the Athletes Relief Fund, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The minister, Sunday Dare announced the cheering news Friday.

The minister who made it clear that creating such welfare fund for Nigeria athletes during his inchoate days remains his top priority, expressed gladness that the project has come to fruition

He noted that the establishment of the fund became absolutely a necessity in view of the impact ravaging coronavirus will have on the athletes as they prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games which has now been shifted to 202.

He noted that fund would be a relief to the athletes especially those who are left in financial constraints as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Glad to announce Nigeria’s Athletes Relief Fund, ARF. COVID-19 has left many athletes in financial strait as the Covid 19 pandemic fell right at the doorstep of Edo 2020 and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

“Athletes were poised to earn their well-deserved prize money from competitions,” he said.
