Sports To Reopen In Nigeria

After three months of lockdown and suspension of sporting activities in the country due to the ravaging coronavirus also referred to as COVID-19, sporting activities are set to reopen, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports.

The minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare who disclosed this, however did not give a definite date when sports would make a return

However, Mr Dare noted that sporting activities will return with non-contact sports.

Speaking on the Voice of Nigeria Issues in the News, Mr Dare said “Plans have reached an advanced stage to have Nigeria sports back on stream post covid-19  with non-combat sports like table tennis, lawn tennis, track and Field  set for early  return. We hope that our athletes can get back to action soon with non-combat sports.”

Speaking further, he noted that reopening of sports in the country is subject to strict adherence to guidelines on COVID-19

“Although no date has been set, but we must submit to the Covid-19 protocols in line with the practice all over the world. We have submitted our protocol and hopefully, our athletes would soon be back to compete”
