As if injuries to the squad are not enough, Liverpool winger Mohammed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty thus adding to the EPL reigning champions injury woes

Egyptian Football Association confirmed this development on Friday

A statement from the Egyptian FA on Twitter read: “The medical swab conducted… showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with the coronavirus, after his test came positive. Although he does not suffer from any symptoms. While the other members of the team were negative.”

The Egyptian is on international duty where he was due to play against Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday evening in Cairo, but he will now self-isolate following his positive test. T

The 28-year-old has started the season in lightning-quick form for Liverpool, already scoring eight goals in eight Premier League matches.

Salah has 10 strikes in 13 games in all competitions in total having helped fire Liverpool to a first top-flight title for 30 years last term.
