The 1st Vice- President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has disclosed that the federation has not set any target for Super Falcons in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup holding in France next month, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The Lagos State FA boss further added that the federation will do everything within its powers to encourage and motivate the ladies to make the nation proud in the tournament.
“There is no specific target for the team but we aim to win the cup. As long as everyone is satisfied that they have done their very best then they should return to Nigeria with their heads held up high.
“We hope that they can do that with the cup or at least having gone quite far in the tournament. And on our parts, we are doing everything possible to encourage and motivate the team to do the nation proud at the world cup,” he said.
Akinwunmi also expressed confidence in the abilities of the Super Falcons to surpass Nigeria’s past record in France based on the recent victories of the team at both the female AFCON and WAFU cup championships.
“The feel good factor that comes with winning a tournament will certainly rub off on the aura of the team and its officials. Winning is a habit. And you know, it would be key for the team going into the world cup,” he concluded.
