Goals from Bina Tombiri and Favour Martins in each half gave Bayelsa United a comfortable two nil victory over Abia Comets in a match day seven, group B2 tie of the Nigeria National League NNL decided at the Samson Siasia stadium, Yenagoa.

Experienced midfielder, Tombiri gave the hosts the lead on 11 minutes from Hassan Oladimeji cross having missed the chance to take lead few minutes into game.

Forward Okardi Inikurogha on 18 minutes failed to convert a glorious one on one opportunity with Abia Comets goalkeeper Salami Kelvin as he fired wide.
The visitors responded immediately in style but the trio of Gabriel Biriduba, Ebedebiri Endurance and Egbe Atiki were able to stop the them from testing Bayelsa United goalkeeper Issiaka Ogoubiye.

Having failed to double the lead in the first half,the second half resumed with the visitors mounting pressure on Bayelsa United with a sterling display in midfield.
The pressure almost counted when Bayelsa United goaltender saved Marshal Okoro shot on 49 minutes.

Few minutes later, Abia Comets responded again on a counter attack when Clement Nantuamb was dispossessed of the ball but Benjamin Michael attempt was blocked by Egbe Atiki.

Apparently not impressed with the performance of his team, technical adviser Diprieye Teibowei introduced Ebitimi Agogu for Nantuam Clement and Beniangba Victory for Bina Tombiri.

This paid off for the hosts when Ifeanyi Amaobi brought down Victory in the eighteen yard box as Favour Martins stepped forward to send Abia Comet goalie Salami Kelvin the wrong way on 81 minutes.

The victory leaves Bayelsa United with ten points after six games winning three, registering two loses and a draw and will now travel to Ole, Delta State to face Holy Arrows while Abia Comet will be on standby.

After the game, technical adviser of Abia Comets Bethel Orji said he was impressed with performance of his players despite the defeat describing Bayelsa United and Remo Stars as the best in group B2.

Coach Orji added that the defeat was as a result of lack of concentration in the first half while the second half was due to tactical indiscipline of his players.

Despite missing scoring opportunities in the game, technical adviser of Bayelsa United Diprieye Teibowei said he was pleased with outcome of the game,pointing out that the errors that were noticed during the game would be corrected in the next game.

He explained that with his side’s performance against the Bethel Orji tutored side , the Yenagoa based team are condemned to win against Holy Arrows of Delta State.

Also, new boy Beniangba Victory who joined Bayelsa United from Dream Stars Football Academy of Odi in Bayelsa State, thanked his family and teammates for believing in him.

He noted that the encouragement and love he has received from his teammates and the coaches has given him much confidence as a player.
