Super Eagles and Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho Sunday smashed the record set by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba for the most goals scored by an African player in the FA Cup as he scored his 13th goal in the competition.

The 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Sunday broke the record set by Ivorian football legend Drogba for the most goals scored by an African in the English FA Cup.

Drogba netted 12 goals in the competition before quitting Chelsea in 2012, a feat Kelechi has broken with just 23 years.

Iheanacho’s feat came in the 78th minute of the fixture against Manchester United at the King Power Stadium as he scored his second of the game and his side’s third to seal the game off for Leicester who ran out with a comfortable 3-1 win.

The Nigerian international had earlier in the 24th minute intercepted a back pass from Fred to United keeper Dean Henderson before going round the goalkeeper to slot home from a close range.

Apart from Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Iheanacho is the only other player within the English game to have netted 20 or more goals across the two domestic cup competitions since his debut for Manchester City in August 2015.

Apart from the FA Cup, the forward has also scored eight goals in the League Cup.
